How to prepare for your pen show appointment with a nib specialist.

(At least this one)

1) Please make sure your pen is clean.

That is, either it is completely empty and clean, or has just been thoroughly cleaned and freshly inked. If the pen is empty, I will most likely be using my own testing ink (Diamine Majestic Blue) for testing.

Important: if there is any sign of mold on your pen I won't work on it due to the risk of potential contamination.

2a) Please be on time,

but be aware there might be some delays as the day progresses. I will try my hardest to stick to the schedule, but most importantly, I want to give every nib the attention it deserves.

2b) Double check your appointment time and time zone!

Technology is finicky, and it has happened on numerous occasions that people showed up at completely different times because they had received their confirmation time in a different time zone. To avoid such issues, please double-check your appointment time and pen show location’s time zones in the e-mail.

3) For a price estimate

of what my service will cost please refer to the prices on the Appelboom website:

www.appelboom.com/nib-customization

At the show you'll be able to pay by debit or credit card, or PayPal if necessary.

4) Bring your favourite paper for testing!

I provide paper for you to test your pen on, usually (but not always) a Rhodia pad, but if you have your own favourite paper you enjoy writing with the most, bring it with you to test your pen on.
